A Utah junior high school band teacher has been placed on interim leave after being arrested for reportedly inappropriate and sexual contact with a student on Friday. Salt Lake City Police arrested Jeffrey Zawalski, 36, was arrested on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a vulnerable adult, five counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and one count of enticing a minor by internet or text. According to the probable cause statement, Zawalski arranged to meet with the year-old victim by email on five separate occasions to meet for unlawful sexual activity, where he also asked for and received at least 10 images of child pornography from the victim. At the time of his arrest on Friday night, Zawalski was in possession of over 10 pornographic images of children, wrote the probable cause statement. Evergreen Junior High School, Zawalski's former place of employment, released a statement late Saturday night regarding the arrest.

The band director at Chilton County High School is behind bars, accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a male student. Ashlee Elizabeth Steinman, 29, was arrested Tuesday on two felony charges - a school employee engaging in a sex act with a student and using her official position to gain access to the student and carryout the illegal relationship, according to CJ Robinson, chief deputy district attorney of the 19th Judicial Circuit, which includes Chilton County. The investigation began when Clanton police received a report of the possible relationship between Steinman and the year-old student, Robinson said. Details about the alleged relationship have not been made public. Steinman was booked into the Chilton County Jail Tuesday and remained held without bond Wednesday morning. She does not yet have an attorney to speak on her behalf. Robinson said the investigation is ongoing.
